Srutimala DuaraDr. Srutimala Duara is a Writer, Academician and a Media person.

Her books in English include three novels, four collections of short stories containing about a hundred stories, two books of poems, a book on the city of Guwahati titled "Mindprints of Guwahati", apart from articles in academic books. "European Rhapsody", a travel book is her recent publication. She has edited "Assam: Myriad Perspectives", brought out by Spectrum Publications on the occasion of the 75th year of Handique Girls' College.

Her books in Assamese include six story books for children, a collection of short stories and a novel. She was a columnist writing under the heading"ChitraBichitra" in the popular local daily "DainikAsom". And also had a column "Slices of Life" in "The Sentinel". She contributes articles, especially travelogues, regularly to the local newspapers.

She is an Associate Professor in the department of English, Handique Girls' College, Guwahati. She was awarded the “Naari Shakti Award” in April 2015.

She is the Secretary of Northeast Writers' Forum, a forum comprising of writers writing in English from the seven states of the Northeast.

She was a presenter in Doordarshan Kendra, Guwahati for 20 years. She has acted in television serials and on stage, in more than 50 radio plays.

She is a known artist in the field of recitation; she has recited in many CDs. Her solo CD on recitation is "EkajoliKobita".

Contributes articles and stories regularly to the local dailies and also magazines.

She was given the “Naari Shakti Award” by Lions Club on March 8, 2015.

Was on Teacher selection board in Royal Group of Institutions on June 2, 2015.

Was part of UNICEF and Anwesha Workshop on children literature. A book was published after the workshop.

Delivered a talk on Creative Writing in Army School Literary fest on August 20, 2015.

Conducted the national conference on representation of adolescents in press organised by UNICEF and Commission for Child Welfare in Kaziranga on the 31st of October and the 1st of November 2015.

Invited as a speaker in Gurukul Grammar School on November 30, 2015.
